VERTICAL FORMAT: PARTNERSHIP PROSPECTUS (2026/2027)
A Record of the Canadian Cordillera via the sport of rock climbing.
Vertical Format is a multi-platform media project documenting the evolution of climbing through the archival lens of 4x5 large-format photography. We are currently securing foundational partners for the Episode 1 Pilot and the inaugural Squamish season.
I. THE 2026/2027 ROADMAP
The project is structured in three distinct phases, designed to build momentum from local heritage to international broadcast.
II. PRODUCTION BUDGET TIERS
These tiers represent the investment required to move a 20lb large-format system into a high-vertical environment safely and professionally.
Tier 1: "The Supporting Partner" ($2,500 – $4,000)
This is for brands that want a "social presence" but don't need a full-scale ad campaign.
Deliverables: 3-5 high-res digital "Selects" from the shoot.
Licensing: Standard (6–12 Months). Organic social media and website/blog usage only. No paid advertising (OOH/Print/Paid Digital).
Brand Placement: "Supported by" credit in the video sizzle and on the project landing page.
Tier 2: "The Essential Partner" ($5,000 – $8,000)
This is the "sweet spot" for a brand like Arc'teryx.
Deliverables: 10–12 high-res digital "Selects" + 30-second "Brand Cut" of the video.
Licensing: Extended (18–24 Months). Global digital rights, including paid social and newsletter usage.
Brand Placement: "Presented by" credit in the main video, BTS footage for use on social pages, and a dedicated "Partner Slide" in the final pitch to Outside Inc.
Tier 3: "The Title Partner" ($10,000 – $25,000+)
This is the "National Level" pitch for a partner like Toyota Canada.
Deliverables: Full "Vertical Format" gallery access + Exclusive 60-second "Brand Story" film.
Licensing: Premium (3–5 Years / Perpetual). Full global rights across all platforms, including Print, Out-of-Home (Billboards), and Retail Displays.
Brand Placement: "Title Sponsor" status. The project becomes "Vertical Format: Presented by Toyota." This tier gives them the "Hero" shot of the vehicle at the trailhead for their own national campaigns.
III. LICENSING & USAGE TERMS
To maintain the integrity and archival value of the 4x5 medium, all assets are licensed under professional, time-bound terms.
Usage Duration: Standard image usage rights are granted for a period of 6 months to 1 year from the date of delivery.
Territory: Global Digital (Web/Social/PR).
Exclusivity: Industry-exclusive licensing is available for Presenting Partners.
Renewal: Partners maintain a "Right of First Refusal" to renew asset licenses at the end of the term for an additional 12-month period.
Prints: Physical Master Prints remain the property of the artist; licensing covers digital reproduction for marketing purposes only.
IV. PRODUCTION COST BREAKDOWN (PER EPISODE)
Transparency in where the investment goes is key to a great partnership.
Specialized Labor: High-Angle Riggers (Safety) & Principal Cinematography.
Analog Logistics: Large-format sheet film, chemistry, and shipping.
Post-Production: Professional Scanning & Master Retouching.
Vertical Access: Haul-systems, static lines, and mountain logistics.
